About Us

Basic Rights Counsel Initiative (BRCI) is a non-governmental, non-partisan and non-profit organization in Nigeria that is registered as an Incorporated Trustees at the Corporate Affairs Commission of Nigeria on March 3, 2011.

The organization is committed to promoting and safeguarding the fundamental rights of children and indigent women in Nigeria, by providing free legal support services to children who have been abused and through advocacy at all levels in order to reduce incidences of child abuse in the Nigerian Society.

BRCI envisions a society with enhanced quality of life for women and children.

Our Mission

Facilitate access to justice, equity and economic empowerment for indigent women and vulnerable children through advocacy and partnership with relevant MDAs and non-state actors.

Our Strategy

BRCI tries to ensure that aggressors or violators of children’s rights are brought to justice by any means possible; and that children in difficult circumstances including survivors of gender-based violence are provided with the necessary support to enable them live healthy lives free from abuse, neglect or abandonment.

About Us

BRCI is a non-profit in Nigeria working in the trenches since 2011 to promote and protect the fundamental rights of children.

Our strategy relies on providing free legal and ancillary services like emergency shelter, family tracing and unification, economic, educational and medical support for vulnerable children.
