Deff Partners With Basic Rights Counsel Initiative

Angel Abasiamana, her younger siblings and their mother were accused of witchcraft and thrown out of their house. This accusation traumatized the kids and their mother in no small way. They were left to fend for themselves as much as they could, with their mother having several medical issues. Basic rights Counsel Initiative (BRCI), a Calabar Based Not-for-Profit Organization intervened to save the children from further abuse.

BRCI’s efforts to raise funds to support the children paid off when a friend of BRCI, Deff Westerkamp, a German journalist, accepted to support the kids and their mother. He paid the medical bills of the woman and bought a sewing machine for her. Deff also pay for the shop and apartment where they currently stay.

Deff has given hope to this family and through his contribution Angel’s Mother has been empowered and is able to provide for the needs of her children.

We hope this story motivates and encourages others to follow Deff’s footsteps by supporting less privileged families in whatever way they can. This is the way to build a bright future for our world.
